Security Cooperation
Australia and the Marshall Islands cooperate in a range of maritime security and law enforcement areas.
Of particular note, Australia’s Pacific Patrol Boat Program includes support to RMI’s Sea Patrol through the provision of the patrol boat Lomor 3. This support helps the Marshall Islands address the persistent challenge of illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing, other potential criminal activity in RMI waters, and broader government priorities, such as marine rescue and disaster relief. Australia is working closely with RMI to prepare for the delivery of a new Guardian-class patrol boat.
There is also cooperation on law enforcement, such as on cyber security, and through the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police forum and other regional fora.
